Nelliyady, Kadaba Taluk, D.K. District – September 10, 2026
STG College of Nursing, a unit of St. Gregorios Educational and Charitable Trust (R), observed World Suicide Prevention Day on 10th September 2026 with a series of awareness activities held in line with this year's global theme, "Changing the Narrative on Suicide," and its call to action, "Start the Conversation."
The day began with an awareness rally that set out from the STG campus and proceeded to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Nelliyady. The rally was inaugurated by Mr. Prashanth Chacko, Managing Trustee of STG Group of Institutions, in the presence of Dr. Manu, Principal of STG College of Nursing. Carrying placards and raising slogans of hope and support, nursing students walked the route to spread the message that mental health matters and that reaching out can save lives.
On reaching the PHC, the nursing students performed a short skit aimed at raising awareness about suicide prevention, encouraging the community to talk openly, offer support without judgement, and break the stigma surrounding mental health.
The programme concluded with valuable guidance from Dr. Shishira, Medical Officer, PHC Nelliyady, who spoke on the importance of empathy, timely support, and starting conversations that can make a difference.
Through this observance, STG College of Nursing reaffirmed its commitment to community health and its motto of nursing hearts and building healthier tomorrows — one conversation at a time.
